Marine Ecologist
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate marine ecologist/scientist at the beginning of their career with an interest in marine invertebrate taxonomy and marine ecology.
AQUAFACT processes more than 500 benthic invertebrate samples annually from estuarine, coastal and offshore environments with the aim of assessing anthropogenic impacts in the marine environment.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
You will become familiar with the different types of samples collected by AQUAFACT and you will be able to process samples to an acceptable standard. After receiving the required level of training you will be able to identify all the major groups of marine benthic organisms. You will be trained to sample the environment following standard operating procedures and you will be able to work effectively as part of a team to achieve identified goals.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Relevant third level degree (Level 8 or higher) in marine ecology/biology or related discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience of working within a team environment.
- IT literate.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
