The successful candidate will support research in the development of climate and Earth system models under the direction of researchers.
- Support the development of climate and Earth system models on the Earth simulator.
- Running simulations using climate and Earth system models and managing their products and related data.
- Supporting the management and sharing of archived large-scale model data
- Development of shell scripts to support the above work
- Supporting other work necessary to carry out relevant research.
To support the research conducted during the program, the Research Assistant will be expected to participate in work requiring more applied high-level knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will also be expected to propose specific measures to contribute to the mid-term goals of the department.
Requirements
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a related field or the equivalent.
Applicants should have skills and knowledge in the following areas:
- Experience in the development and operation of a large-scale numerical model on supercomputers.
- Experience in programming using Fortran, Bourne shell language on Linux and Solaris systems.
- Experience in managing and analyzing large-scale tempo-spatial data generated by climate models.
