Ideally, the postdoc would have experience with metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis of soil microbes and an interest in applying that expertise in an interdisciplinary and inter-institutional project. The position requires a creative and open-minded participant who can be a self-starter in their own field while also learning from and sharing ideas with others on the project. Both microbial and plant functions are at the core of the planned work; interfacing with personnel in the Bowen Lab at Northeastern University is expected. There are ample opportunities for a Postdoc to develop their own expanded project.
Rolling review of applications will begin on 10/15/2023, with an ideal start date early in 2024. Funding is available for up to 2.5 years.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in microbial ecology or related discipline required.
- Experience with metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis of microbial communities in soils or sediments strongly preferred. Familiarity with plant biology a plus.
Special Physical Requirements
The field site is accessed by boat, and the work requires multi-hour days spent on narrow boardwalks in coastal marsh at the Plum Island Ecosystems Long-Term Ecological Research site (https://pie-lter.ecosystems.mbl.edu).
