The Marine Conservation Society is a UK charity fighting for a cleaner, better-protected, healthier ocean.

The Role

As a Marine Policy Officer, you will support the development and implementation of policies and advocacy plans related to marine planning and offshore renewable energy.

Ensuring environmental priorities are maintained alongside the UK’s transition to low-carbon energy, you will craft strategic policy positions and work with the Parliamentary Affairs team to align these positions with legislative developments.

Additionally, you’ll engage with government and industry representatives, advocating for policies that prioritize nature in marine planning and offshore energy deployment.

Additionally, you will:

  • Draft written policy positions and advocacy plans that communicate our strategic goals
  • Represent us in stakeholder groups to promote marine conservation
  • Engage in public outreach to communicate the importance of sustainable marine practices

The Benefits

  • Salary of £29,500 – £35,000 per annum
  • Annual leave starting at 25 days per year, plus Bank Holidays, and increasing with service (plus closure over Christmas and New Year as extra time off)
