Mowi is recruiting an Environmental Compliance Specialist to lead and drive environmental excellence across its operations.
Working within the Mowi environment team, you will be responsible for delivering continuous improvement to the company’s compliance position against its environmental licenses, including delivering support, coaching, and training to operational staff at site level.
This role is a full-time post, and the successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours per week.
About the job
- As an environment compliance specialist, you will be responsible for driving high levels of compliance with its environmental (CAR) licenses, ensuring the root cause of any non compliance is identified and proposing suitable corrective actions.
- The role will require visits to our farming locations to work with Mowi’s local teams to assess and review site level compliance processes and identify required interventions to ensure delivery of compliance.
- You will be responsible for developing and delivering effective training to staff on environmental compliance.
- You will liaise closely with the farming support teams ensuring effective communication and efficient compliance processes for permit conditions, including notifications, data reporting, and report submissions.
- The role will involve regular liaison with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA), to discuss the findings of compliance reports, operational processes and practices, non-compliance resolution and improvement plans as required.
- The role will involve engagement with external stakeholders, including customers and certifying bodies presenting information on Mowi’s compliance record.
- You will be able to communicate and recommend interventions relating to permit compliance to all internal stakeholders, including senior managers, working in a structured, collaborative, and effective manner.
- You will provide a lead role within the Mowi environment team providing expertise and guidance on environmental compliance with SEPA CAR licenses.
- You will support and promote the delivery of environmental compliance as a core function of team activities.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified to a degree level in marine science or other comparable discipline.
- You will have practical experience of delivering environmental compliance in an equivalent position.
- You will have a strong understanding of what constitutes environmental compliance and be able to identify the cause of non-compliance and analyze and determine appropriate actions to rectify.
- An effective trainer with an ability to identify the learning styles and methods that produces increased awareness and understanding of compliance actions for both existing and new staff in compliance facing roles.
- You will be able to communicate findings and analysis of non-compliance in a clear, concise way that benefits the company to senior managers.
- You will be able to determine and implement effective collaborative two-way communication with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency.
- You will be able to demonstrate an ability to utilize tools, techniques, systems and practices to support quality data interpretation and analysis.
- A flexible approach to working to meet the demands of the job.
- The ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary team operating in a busy, diverse and fast paced environment.
