Ocean Career: Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission Enhancement Data Specialist

The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission (NWIFC) is seeking to fill the role of Enhancement Data Specialist. The position will be located in Olympia, Washington.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate, manage, exchange, and analyze tribal hatchery related data. This includes hatchery production, fish tagging and marking data, CWT recovery data, hatchery escapement data, tribal HGMPs, Co-manager FBD plans, and hatchery location data. Coordinate and supervise fish tagging and marking operations as needed. Manage and provide training for the tribal hatchery management software program.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Fisheries Science or related field and two years of pertinent experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries or related field and three years pertinent work experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Good computing skills including knowledge of computer hardware and software, general programming, relational database theory, and experience with data management. Knowledge of salmon biology. Ability to supervise temporary employees. Good communications skills. Valid Washington State Driver’s License.
