Fugro was quick to support recovery efforts following the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene in the US last week. Working under contract to McKenzie Intelligence Services (MIS), Fugro delivered high-resolution airborne imagery over three hard-hit communities: the cities of Perry and Madison in Florida’s Big Bend region, as well as nearby Valdosta, Georgia.

MIS is utilizing detailed imagery to conduct rapid and accurate damage assessments, enabling insurance companies to swiftly process claims and provide financial relief to affected residents and businesses. Fugro’s advanced imaging technology ensures that the data captured is not only precise but also timely, facilitating efficient recovery efforts.

Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm near Perry on September 26, causing widespread devastation across the Southeast. Thousands of homes and businesses were affected, resulting in significant loss of life and property.

“We understand the urgency of disaster recovery, and our team is dedicated to providing the necessary geospatial data to expedite the rebuilding process,” stated Denis Charland, Fugro’s Service Line Director for Inspection and Monitoring in the Americas.

MIS’s response team has already begun analyzing the imagery to pinpoint areas most affected by the hurricane, ensuring that assistance can be directed where it is needed most.
