IMarEST Launches Communications Workshops

With communication listed as the second most sought after skill by employers*, the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), is offering three new one-day communication workshops.

Aimed at those at entry level, mid and senior levels, the courses will provide individuals with the confidence and skills to clearly communicate, not only to any audience, including colleagues, external stakeholders, and public audiences. As well as sharing techniques such as using golden threads, communicating difficult messages, participants will also have opportunities to practice and refine their newly learned skills.

Peter Sheppard, Head of Policy and Technical, IMarEST, explains: “Today, communication skills are as important as technical skills, particularly with the shift in working patterns to encompass hybrid and remote working. For engineers, scientists, and technologists, knowing how to communicate complex information in a way people understand is vital and can be the difference between the success or failure of a project. This is why we are working with communications experts, Masgroves, to offer these workshops for those at different stages of their careers.”

The three workshops, which will take place at the IMarEST head office at Birdcage Walk, are:
