CSA Signs Master Services Agreement with Oil Spill Response Limited

Partnership to serve offshore industry with monitoring and sampling services

CSA Ocean Sciences Inc. (CSA), a marine environmental consulting and survey company, has signed a Master Services Agreement with Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), an industry-owned and funded cooperative that exists to respond effectively to oil spills, including provision of specialist monitoring and sampling (M&S) services for OSRL members in the fields of marine environmental monitoring, impact assessment, crisis management, and Geographic Information System (GIS) science.

The announcement was made at 2021’s Clean Gulf Conference in San Antonio (16 – 18 November) and signals both parties’ intent to strengthen a relationship that dates back to 2016, when CSA's services for Water Column Monitoring Equipment were adopted by OSRL in coordination with BP. The signing follows the release of IOGP-IPIECA’s ‘Oil Spill Monitoring and Sampling’ in November 2020, a technical support document that offers best practice guidelines for incident management and emergency response personnel, and which directly addresses the need for comprehensive M&S programs designed to collect, centralize, and validate baseline data.

“We are delighted to announce the expansion of CSA’s relationship with OSRL and look forward to continuing our work with their membership in the oil and gas sector,” said CSA’s Chief Operating Officer, Robert Mulcahy. “Establishing robust monitoring and sampling programs that not only leverage the latest in marine scientific survey technologies and practices, but which also equip operators with the tools, training, and techniques used to gather critical data before, during, and after a spill, is essential to providing the international offshore community with a practical toolbox for an effective response.”

Robert Limb, Chief Executive at OSRL, said: “We’re delighted to confirm the new agreement with CSA. Having additional capability of this caliber at our disposal through strategic partnerships like this allows OSRL’s members to access specialized services directly through their membership package, with the reassurance of working with a fully vetted and trusted partner to OSRL.”
