The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is recruiting a Chief Executive Officer and a Technical Director. IMCA is the leading representative body of offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies with over a thousand members in more than 60 countries. IMCA has four technical divisions covering marine/specialist vessel operations, offshore diving, hydrographic survey, remote systems and ROV systems plus geographic sections for the Asia-Pacific, Central & North America, Europe & Africa, Middle East & India and South America regions. As well as a core focus on safety, the environment, competence and training, IMCA seeks to promote its members’ common interests, to resolve industry-wide issues and to provide an authoritative voice for its members. With a raft of challenges and opportunities facing the industry IMCA is seeking a new CEO to represent the marine contracting industry and lead the required improvements on several strategic topics with support of the whole membership community.
The Technical Director Position
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer this role is responsible for the content and delivery from the high quality technical team which is made up of experts from the four technical divisions. You will therefore manage programs which comprise multiple projects spanning a matrix of disciplines across the globe in multiple locations. Specific activities will include: defining work programs; delivering business benefits within agreed timescales and budget; defining the program plan, critical success factors and priorities; liaising with member firms; performance monitoring and helping to identify new business opportunities. You will also be an ambassador for the industry and the organization; raising and maintaining IMCA’s profile and credibility with its membership, government and the public.
Qualifications
Candidates will ideally be Chartered Engineers with experience of running operations across an international business in the marine construction industry with a background in delivering complex and enterprise-wide initiatives. You will be a problem-solver who commands respect; a good networker with the ability to impact and influence outside your direct remit. You will thrive in a dynamic environment with an emphasis on delivery and operating to tight time schedules.
The CEO Position
Reporting to the IMCA Overall Management Committee and the Chairman, the Chief Executive Officer will be an ambassador for the industry and the organization; raising and maintaining IMCA’s profile and credibility with its membership, government and the public. An astute business manager you will play a central role in setting and managing the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and expertly building relationships to manage the varying interests and expectations of members. Providing leadership and guidance to the membership body; your role will involve building relationships with relevant government agencies to effectively communicate industry views on key issues affecting the sector. Able to create pace and momentum within the organization to facilitate progress, standards and results, the role offers an exceptional opportunity to play a key role in the continued development of the offshore marine construction sector around the globe and, as a result, will drive the vision and strategy of IMCA to improve performance in the industry.
Qualifications
A proven business leader, candidates will have marine construction sector experience with a broad and comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing the sector. You will possess a proven track record of setting objectives, delivering results and will have had exposure to leading diverse teams. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills; with experience of developing positive and collaborative relationships within the sector and with Government. Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and integrity you will develop trust within the community, with the drive and determination to make a major impact in this crucial role.
