Job Opportunity: Senior Project Manager at OceanMind

OceanMind is a UK-based non-profit organisation that’ empowers enforcement and compliance to protect the world’s fisheries. Their work helps preserve marine biodiversity, protect livelihoods, and prevent slavery in the seafood industry.

OceanMind is seeking a Senior Project Manager on a fixed term contract who will be responsible for the overall PMO. You will provide leadership, integration, and management of the PMO processes and functions to improve the consistency and efficiency for OceanMind’s project delivery. The PMO is strategically aligned with the business goals and objectives and reports directly to the CEO. The successful applicant will manage key Partner projects which will include the coordination and completion of projects on time and within budget and scope.

You will strive to achieve compliance and engagement of the PMO function from all team members in an environment of conflicting interests and opinions. You will identify new and innovative project management approaches and tools and embed these in the behaviour and day to day activities of the organisation’s operations.

Responsibilities will include: –

  • Leading the implementation of a common project management methodology, standards, and tools to drive and facilitate the successful delivery of projects
  • Leading the execution of PMO governance, reporting and review framework to provide a holistic view of all OceanMind’s project activity
  • Managing interdependencies and coordination across projects to ensure that information relating to project deliverables, risks and issues are effectively communicated between stakeholders and that key performance indicators are monitored and evaluated
  • Identifying the major strategic issues for OceanMind and integrate diverse stakeholder interests with the organizations broader agenda to inform the development and prioritization of project initiatives
  • Defining business strategies and organisational policies to enable the strategic coordination of multiple major projects and initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness of projects
  • Assisting in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Manage implementation of OceanMind projects
  • Organising and motivating the project core team
  • Ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Managing changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
