Ocean Career: Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain

Key Work Areas Responsible For:

  • Taking charge and command of Rescue Craft and its crew upon launch, subject to Master’s orders.
  • General upkeep and local repairs of Fast Rescue Craft/Daughter Craft.
  • Running up FRC Engines to ensure they operate
  • Reporting all FRC/DC defects to the Chief Engineer and Master and liaising with both regarding general upkeep of craft.
  • General on deck daytime duties, as directed by the Chief Mate.
  • Form part of the vessel firefighting team.
  • Monitoring safe working practices of shore contractors during periods of maintenance.

Qualifications/Training:

Suitable candidates require to have worked as a Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain previously on an ERRV vessel

Required Certificates:

  • OPITO ITSO (or Medical Aid and Rescue Care)
  • OPITO FRC Coxswain
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques (A-VI/1-1)
  • STCW Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention (A-VI/1-2)
  • STCW Elementary First Aid (A-VI/1-3)
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (A-VI/1-4)
  • Seafarers medical
