Ocean Career: Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission Ecosystem Recovery Grants Coordinator

The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission is seeking to fill the role of Ecosystem Recovery Grants Coordinator. The position is located in Olympia, Washington.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assure efficient disbursal and tracking of EPA Puget Sound and other funding sources to the tribes and achieve compliance with federal and state performance standards and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in fisheries or natural science and three years pertinent work experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in fisheries or natural science and five years pertinent work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Three years of experience managing grant programs, including developing multi-year work plans to secure funding and subsequent management of subaward program once funds are disbursed.
  • Familiarity with tribal salmon recovery projects, the Puget Sound ecosystem, and tribal governments.
  • Previous experience working with tribes. Knowledge of research and monitoring methods currently employed to assess ecosystem condition.
  • Experience or ability to build cooperative working relationships with tribal and funding agency staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
