Ocean Career: Research Technician

Overview


Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking a Research Technician interested in performing molecular biological and biochemical analyses in support of basic research, as well as in using that knowledge to tackle global environmental problems through commercial applications using a ‘green chemistry’ approach. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-reliant, meticulous technician, able to troubleshoot and to interpret and report their results. The candidate should have expertise in the use of recombinant DNA approaches in eukaryotes, the maintenance and growth of microorganisms (preferably yeast), and be willing to learn new techniques. Experience in enzymology approaches and chemical analytical procedures would be a distinct advantage.



Requirements



The successful candidate will have a BS degree, including 3+ years of demonstrated laboratory experience; a MS degree with at least 1+ year of experience, or equivalent qualifications. This is a full-time position initially for two years, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.
