Join the Coastal Programs Team within the Natural Resources Division (NRD) of California State Parks in Sacramento to provide technical expertise on natural resources management issues in support of the entire State Park System.
In this unique and exciting role, the incumbent will preserve and protect the state's extraordinary biological diversity and protect its coastal natural resources. This important and challenging position is an exciting opportunity to oversee oceanographic research that meets the coastal management needs of the Department and the State of California. The Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist will play a unique role in guiding applied oceanographic research that addresses sea level rise and other coastal climate change impacts; examines coastal processes and coastal sediment dynamics; investigates nearshore and estuarine management questions; and informs coastal resilience planning statewide. Under the supervision of the Coastal Programs Manager, this position will also provide technical and project review to NRD staff as well as to coastal district natural resources staff statewide.
The reporting location for this position is negotiable - either at the department headquarters in Sacramento, CA or a coastal State Parks district office. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory).
