Research Technician with the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences

Overview

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking a Research Technician interested in performing chemical and biological analyses for a variety of projects providing information to researchers, industry, and government. The candidate should be willing to carry out high-quality analytical procedures on a variety of instruments, including elemental analysis, seawater nutrient analysis, and gas and liquid chromatography (GC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS). An interest in studying the biology and chemistry of seaweeds, microalgae, and microbial systems, as well as converting that knowledge to environmental and commercial applications, is required. They are looking for an enthusiastic, self-reliant, meticulous analyst to participate in laboratory and field experiments, who is able to interpret and report results.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a BS degree, including 1+ years of demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation; or equivalent qualifications. Fieldwork experience on coasts and/or with small boats would be ideal. The ability to multi-task and remain highly organized is a must. This is a full-time position initially for 2 years, with the possibility of extension dependent upon funding.
