NOAA Further Extends Comment Period for Proposed Green Sea Turtle ESA Listing

The National Marine Fisheries Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service have announced that the agencies are again extending the public comment period on their proposal to replace the current range-wide threatened Endangered Species Act (ESA) designation for the green sea turtle (currently listed as endangered for the Florida and Mexican Pacific coast breeding populations) with a listing of 11 distinct population segments (DPSs).

Comments are now due by Friday, 25 September 2015.

The agencies noted that they received a request to further extend the comment period due to a typhoon and loss of Internet service in the Northern Mariana Islands and that they concur with the request.
