Summary Job Description
The Junior Field Scientist is responsible for the development and delivery of the expedition volunteer training programme alongside the other Field Scientists, teaching and providing assistance to volunteers under the management of the Expedition Manager. They are responsible for the collection of data and the analysis and reporting of research results. This is a full time role based in Blue Ventures Beloi expedition site, working closely with local partners and the Dili based team.
For the first three – six months they will receive intensive support and guidance from a senior Field Scientist (based in Atauro) and continued professional development throughout. The successful candidate will undergo intensive PADI scuba dive training to PADI Divemaster if needed and Reef Check Eco Diver training. Alongside this, the candidate will be coached to increase their understanding of Marine Science (where appropriate) to facilitate the delivery of lectures and volunteer learning experience.
The role contributes to the conservation goals of Blue Ventures in Timor-Leste. It involves planning, coordinating and participating in all expedition research and community outreach activities carried out on site.
