They are looking for a Science Communications Manager to help deliver a new science communications strategy. At the interface of the Global Communications & Marketing and Science & Standards teams, you will be responsible for helping ensure that all MSC staff have great content about their scientific work that’s relevant to, and appropriate for, their audiences.
Bringing an audience-centred digital-first approach you will produce web, print and social media content for both consumers and stakeholders, communicating complex MSC standards and programs in accessible and engaging ways, and supporting the science team to communicate effectively.
You’ll be responsible for a range of projects involving close cross-organisational collaboration. These include communicating the MSC Fisheries Standard Review and building a wider ocean voice that shows the relevance of MSC to consumers, retailers and the fishing industry.
Who is the MSC?
The MSC’s vision is for the world’s oceans to be teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. Through their internationally recognised certification and ecolabeling programme well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognised and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of their partners. Critically, other fisheries are incentivised to improve their performance to meet the growing demand for certified sustainable and traceable seafood choice. Over 400 fisheries around the world, representing 16% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC programme and over 1200 documented improvements to the way our oceans are being fished have been recorded. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries.
Who are you?
You will:
- Be educated to degree or equivalent level in a science discipline;
- Have a track record of effective complex science communications to diverse audiences; and
- Want to make a difference to the sustainability of our planet.
