Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or a GED and minimum two (2) years of college coursework, including developmental biology/embryology, general chemistry and genetics, or two (2) years laboratory experience involving these subjects; or equivalent combination of coursework and experience.
- College-level knowledge of embryology and genetics.
- Knowledge of and experience in general lab protocols.
- Experience making algal media and maintaining algal cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in care and feeding of marine invertebrates and/or fish.
- Experience raising marine larvae.
- Experience using personal computer (PC preferred) as well as spreadsheet and word processing software such as Word and Excel.
- Experience in data collection. Ability to accurately maintain lab records with strict attention to detail.
- Proven experience with use of pipets, analytical balances, dissecting and compound microscopes.
- Skill to use hand and power tools for setting up aquaria and algal cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in ordering supplies.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safety requirements and procedures, and ability to maintain up-to-date safety training certification.
- Ability to interact effectively, using tact and diplomacy, with diverse personalities including academics, staff, student employees and outside vendors.
Hiring salary range: $19.39 per hour
Work schedule: Days, 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday
