You will lead the initiation, coordination and delivery of innovative scientific research in the field of ocean modeling and establish and maintain AIMS’s reputation as a world leader through delivery of environmental and societal impact and sharing scientific learnings.
This role will provide leadership with a focus on motivation to engage, communication and relationship building in a Research Project Team environment, as well as engage with partners to design numerical modeling research which creates economic, social and environmental net benefit for marine industries and coastal communities along with conceptualizing and implementing innovative ideas, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, to position AIMS as a world leader in numerical modeling.
About you
You will hold a Ph.D. coupled with a strong record in research excellence and academic achievement in the field of numerical ocean modeling or observational physical oceanography. You will bring a demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning to inform the development of strategic physical oceanography and cross disciplinary research plans and proposals that attract industry and government funding.
You will be an effective and approachable leader, experienced in developing skills and knowledge of others and fostering an atmosphere of positivity and creativity. You are familiar working with diverse groups (including industry, academia and government partners/stakeholders) and will have proven influencing, stakeholder engagement and communication skills. You have a desire and drive to facilitate people and projects beyond your immediate group.
Your experience in managing complex multi-disciplinary projects and an ability to deliver results will be highly regarded.
