Job Description

W.F Baird is seeking a coastal/ocean engineer with more than 7 years’ experience for a Coastal Engineer position in Boca Raton, Florida.

  • Perform advanced coastal engineering analyses and clearly relay the effort in written reports and presentations.
  • Lead Project Design Teams from conceptual design, through detailed engineering, permitting, and construction bidding and oversight.
  • Manage Projects including client interaction, project budget and schedule control, and coordination of quality control procedures.
  • Participate in proposal preparation and interviews, attract new clients, and retain clients as necessary.
  • Mentor junior staff.
  • Work across our different offices and time zones.
  • Some domestic and international travel will be required to undertake the job duties described above. Travel may be planned or on an immediate basis and the candidate will need to be flexible in meeting project deadlines.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil, Ocean, or Coastal Engineering or a closely related engineering category from an accredited University or College (M.S. or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 7+ years of coastal or marine engineering experience, in a consulting or contractor role.
  • Professional Credentials: Professional Engineer licensure (FL preferred but ability to obtain via comity sufficient).
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills in designing projects.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills suitable to a consulting environment.
  • Experience with business development, preparation of proposals, and selection presentations.
  • Flexible work style, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, meet challenging deadlines and client needs.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
