Purpose:
Manage and provide advice on the delivery of coastal engineering and maintenance projects, including flood risk management and coastal infrastructure as outlined in the Council’s works program and to provide specialist technical expertise and co-ordination to ensure they are delivered in accordance with legislation and other requirements.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who:
- Has expertise in coastal engineering and maintenance.
- Has knowledge of contract and project management techniques, including cost and quality control.
- Is proficient in relevant computer software, such as AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, and other coastal engineering tools.
- Possesses a strong understanding of national and local standards and legislation, such as the Marine and Coastal Access Act, Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) guidelines, and CDM Regulations.
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to provide technical expertise and recommendations on complex coastal engineering issues.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead on various coastal engineering projects while overseeing and supervising contractors’ work to ensure quality, cost and time requirements are met.
- Work with external bodies, contractors, and stakeholders to gather information, resolve issues, and align projects with broader goals.
- Design and deliver coastal construction and maintenance schemes from concept to completion.
- Analyze coastal trends and develop practical solutions to enhance resilience.
