Ocean Career: Falkland Islands Government Head of Fisheries Management

The Falkland Islands Government currently has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Fisheries Management, who will support the Deputy Director and Director of Natural Resources achieve the objectives and performance standards set for the Directorate.

The Head of Fisheries Management is responsible for delivering timely and effective management of the various Falkland Islands licensed fisheries. This will be delivered by making evidence-based decisions using a range of stakeholder, science and compliance information. The postholder will also provide leadership for the team responsible for the effective monitoring, control and surveillance of the Falkland Island Conservation Zones and other associated fishing activities.

The Person

The successful applicant will be required to hold a BSC in Marine Science, Fisheries Management or another relevant subject, or significant relevant work experience in an equivalent senior role, least ten years past work experience in Fisheries related activities in a similar role or at least ten years’ experience of managing personnel in a similar field. Where candidates do not meet the essential requirement of 10 years’ experience, they will be considered against the B grade job description, which carries a minimum of 7 years of experience.

We are looking for an individual who is well organized, be able to manage a range of different tasks simultaneously whilst still maintaining quality output and meeting deadlines.

The Package

  • Fixed Term Contract, up to 4 years.
  • This is a dual graded role depending on qualifications and experience, commencing from £47,428 – £54,424 per annum within Grade B or from £56,716 – £65,084 per annum within Grade A.
  • Eligibility for a 25% Gratuity (taxable).
  • 41 days paid leave, 30 days annual leave and 11 public holidays.

Salary
