Education
- Graduation/enrolled with a diploma/certificate/degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Degree equivalency
Possession of the following occupational certifications may be required for certain positions.
Occupational certification:
- Completion of Swift Water Rescue Training
- Pleasure Craft Operators Certificate- Jet Boat Operation Training
- Radio Operators License
- Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
- St. John’s Ambulance Standard First Aid CPR C with AED
- Bear Awareness Training
- Trade ticket (e.g. welding, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, etc.)
- WHMIS training
- Transportation of dangerous goods certificate
- Class 3 or 4 Driver’s license
- Air Brake Certification
- Forklift Operator Certification
- ATV Operators Certification
- Rigging and slinging certification
- Power saw limbing and bucking training
Experience
- Experience operating and maintaining equipment associated with a fish culture facility.
- Experience in the collection of biological data.
- Experience in all aspects of Pacific salmon culture.
- Experience working at spawning channels.
- Experience in river swims for stock and habitat assessment purposes.
- Experience working cooperatively with First Nations, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Experience with stock assessment and habitat restoration projects.
