The Marine and Country Manager of Canada will play a dual leadership role. First, they will be responsible for developing Fugro’s strategic positioning and accelerating growth across all services and solutions in the country. Second, they will lead the Marine Business Line in Canada, with full P&L accountability, driving safe and efficient operations, fostering innovation, and supporting the development of a high-performing team.

This role is pivotal in aligning local execution with Fugro’s global Towards Full Potential strategy, making this position ideal for a strategic thinker with strong operational leadership and a passion for delivering results. Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and place Quality, Health & Safety, Security, and the protection of the Environment as core values while never intentionally placing employees, our processes, customers, or the communities in which we live and work at risk.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the MSC and MAI business lines in Canada.
  • Develop and implement a plan for the strategic growth of all Fugro solutions in Canada, through key partnership identification, potential acquisitions, and organic growth.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate governance.
  • Represent Fugro with government bodies, industry associations, and key clients.
  • Drive financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L accountability for MSC and MAI Canada
  • Develop a solid understanding of Fugro’s business capabilities across all business lines
  • Establish the Business Development Plan and sales targets for Marine, in conjunction with the Canada BD and Sales manager and related stakeholders
  • Support the development of a strong and diversified sales funnel, in all its different stages, that supports the growth projected on the Multi-Year Plan (MYP) and ensures the attainment of the financial performance committed in the monthly, quarterly and yearly forecast and budget.
  • Leads the commercial strategy to ensure a strong value proposition is presented to the current and future customers, aiming for the development of long-term master service agreements and framework agreements.
  • Work with the operations support team in planning and operating ongoing and future projects.
  • Champions and acts as an ambassador of the operational excellence cultural mindset, driving a continuous search for process improvement and development of local operational excellence leaders.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess organizational and financial performance.
  • Manage MSC and MAI financial resources, including budgets, financial planning, CAPEX requests, forecasts, and cost control.
  • Attract, develop, and create an environment to retain talent.
  • Develop and mentor team members for professional growth.
  • Develop a robust succession process for all functions and key roles in the organization, including potential successors.

Job Requirements

  • Authorized to work in Canada, without restrictions.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Engineering, or Geosciences; MBA or MS preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing multi-country, multi-cultural organizations with full P&L and Balance Sheet financial responsibility, preferably in the energy markets.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating in Canada.
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of the statutory requirements in Canada, including local content, tax, foreign exchange, currency controls, and labor law.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and results orientation.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent decision-making, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport and required work authorizations.

Salary range: $166,000 to $266,000 CAD/year
