Position Summary:
Delivers the Dive Immersion (DI) Programs to their guests including Open circuit, Swim, Aquatic Advocate, & Shark Cage programs. Dive Master 1 ensures the programs are run safely, efficiently, and the guest experience is remarkable. Conducts Dive Immersion Programs in accordance with the Georgia Aquarium Dive Safety Programs including staff diver training and guest diver program administration. Conducts Dive Immersion Programs, ensures all programming is engaging and innovative, with a priority on guest service, satisfaction, and safety. Works with other departments in the evaluation and development of enhanced guest experience and public relations opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily delivery of Dive Immersion Programs and guest experiences.
- Maintains the highest level of safety and quality of the Dive Immersion Programs possible.
- Participates in training and development classes.
- Set up and inspects open circuit dive equipment ensuring all is within proper operating parameters.
- Meets all applicable requirements as outlined in Georgia Aquarium’s Diving Operations and Procedures Manual.
- Adheres to all dive safety policies and procedures as set by GAI and the Dive Control Board.
- Regularly performs guest experience dives in support of the program mission to include Open circuit, Swim, Aquatic Advocate, & Shark Cage programs.
- Regularly demonstrates a comprehensive and advanced knowledge of recreational diving methods and techniques.
- Regularly demonstrates a broad technical and recreational instructional expertise in diving.
- Occasionally assists Zoological Operations with exhibit maintenance and other duties as workload necessitates.
- Always maintains the highest standards of work area cleanliness.
- Interface effectively with other departments to maintain the highest standards of quality.
- Regularly interacts on behalf of Georgia Aquarium, with guests, media, public, etc.
- Acts as dive program liaison working with education and visitor services for guest diving program development.
- Performs other Dive Office functions such as filling cylinders, tending/diving feeding presentations, data entry, buddy diving, diving supervisor, etc. as needed.
- As needed, interacts on behalf of the Georgia Aquarium, Inc. with guests, media, and public, etc.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Present evidence of all dive training and diving history.
- Hold a current, active, Instructor Open Circuit certification.
- Pass Georgia Aquarium’s Dive Physical.
- Pass Georgia Aquarium’s Swim and SCUBA Test.
- Pass an Open Water checkout dive with Diving Safety Officer or Designee.
Compensation: $22.82 USD per hour
