As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Geospatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist to join our team (Contingent on contract win).
Lynker is seeking a Geospatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist to support a future opportunity at NOAA. This position is contingent on winning the contract and will be awarded upon contract award. The successful applicant will provide technical expertise related to coastal habitat mapping and land cover data production activities. The ideal candidate would be located in the Charleston, SC area with flexibility for hybrid work.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities of the Geospatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist should include, but are not limited to:
- Quality assurance of multispectral imagery, ancillary data, and other production inputs
- Perform preprocessing of imagery, lidar, and GIS data to be used for land cover or habitat mapping classification
- Develop in-house land cover products and/or production workflows (classification, modeling, manual editing)
- Quality assurance of land cover data and associated derived data sets
- Perform accuracy assessment of land cover data
- Assist with publishing and managing map/image services
- Write metadata records
- Assist with the development of derivative products and tools that utilize land cover data (ex. Story Maps, web apps)
Qualifications
The Geospatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist selected should have the following:
- S. plus 8-years’ experience, or M.S. plus 2-years’ experience in geography, remote sensing, GIS, engineering, geology, or related field
- Working knowledge sufficient to evaluate land cover products
- Demonstrated experience with image processing software such as ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, and/or eCognition
- Demonstrated experience in habitat map and/or land cover data development and/or analysis of remotely sensed imagery or other geospatial data
- Knowledge of Python, or other, scripting language required for automation of processing and data management tasks
- Knowledge of, or experience with, the application of machine learning/artificial intelligence
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to pass a National Agency Check and fingerprinting background check and maintain it through the duration of employment.
The Ideal Geospatial Analyst and Remote Sensing Specialist selected will have the following:
- Experience with processing of lidar derivatives
- Practical application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science applications for remotely sensed data
- Knowledge of coastal management and coastal processes
- Familiarity with wetland identification and characterization
Salary range: USD $55,000.00 – USD $70,000.00 /Yr.
