Basic Qualifications:
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree (B.S. or B.A.), as well as some coursework and/or working experience in plant sciences in subject areas such as Biology, Botany, Horticultural Sciences, Marine Sciences, or other related topics. Must have strong laboratory skills in preparation of reagents, media, sterilization techniques, and be familiar with general use of laboratory equipment. Must be able to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have experience with tissue culture techniques.
Physical Requirements:
Working daily in a chemical/biological laboratory. Minimal exposure to biohazardous chemicals. Some field work in aquatic environments necessary for collecting samples including swimming, snorkeling, and/or wading in shallow water. Some work in the Marine Resources Center wet lab may be required.
