Key Responsibilities:
- Assist CO-OPS with the advancement of the new CORA (Coastal Ocean Reanalysis) hydrodynamic coastal model simulations of water levels and waves for the past 40+ years
- Identify new technologies or data sets that may enhance or lead to development of new CO-OPS products using the hydrodynamic model output
- Evaluate model results against observations, or assess the integration of model output with other products and services
- Aid in the development and operationalization of nearshore wave observations, which will support marine navigation, hydrodynamic model development, coastal change forecasts, and the prediction of coastal hazards such as rip currents, storm surge, and wave run-up
- Act as a subject matter expert on nearshore water level and wave observations used for model validation
- Assist with the development of presentations, technical reports, and peer-reviewed publications in areas of expertise
- Analyze and visualize output from coastal models
