Job Description
- Conduct data collection and data analysis under general instruction following standard research methodologies.
- Set up and maintain accurate and timely records for assigned research sessions conducted with marine mammals.
- Have a general understanding of animal training and behavior, in order to conduct behavioral research projects.
- Coordinate with research staff and animal training staff to ensure research sessions are conducted in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
- Communicate to Principal Investigators daily on the status of assigned projects. Prepare reports and summaries on data being collected and progress of assigned projects.
- Set up, break down, and maintain all equipment related to assigned research projects.
- Conduct literature review related to assigned projects.
- As needed, support other research staff members to ensure the research team as a whole works proficiently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Some planning and prioritization must occur to complete tasks effectively.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a STEM related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word
- Comfortable working on/around the water and outdoors
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
Preferred Job Requirements
- Prior coding experience in Python/MatLab/R or equivalent
- Experience collecting and analyzing data as part of a formal research project in a related field
- Prior experience conducting research with animals under behavioral control, preferentially marine mammals
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
