The Role
Saildrone is seeking an experienced Hydrographic Data Processor to develop, refine, and execute internal procedures for post-processing single beam and multibeam bathymetric data.
As a Hydrographic Data processor your responsibilities will include hydrographic data analysis, interpretation, and management of bathymetric data acquired from Saildrone vehicles, including single-beam, multi-beam, backscatter, sound velocity profiles, sub-botton profiler, and GPS data. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Receive and process survey data in a timely and accurate manner.
- Configure and validate data processing software
- Identify and troubleshoot data inconsistencies and errors
- Maintain and update databases and other data storage systems.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date record of all survey data processing activities.
- Follow established data processing procedures and guidelines
- Provide QA/QC reports of data
- Assist the Lead Hydrographer in the production of final Report of Survey
- Keep up to date on latest IHO data standards and procedures
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hydrography, Geomatics, or related discipline
- 3 or more years of experience processing Single and Multi-beam bathymetric data
- Familiarity with processing software such as Qimera, CARIS, Fledermaus, FMGT, FMMW, PosPac, ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.
- Experience producing standard hydrographic Report of Survey (ROS) or Abbreviated Report of Survey (AROS) is preferred but not required
Desired Skills and Experience
- Category A Hydrographer Certification
- NSPS-THSOA Certified Hydrographer
- Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor or Engineer
- Experience using uncrewed surface vehicles or other autonomous systems for survey operations
Location: This position is in St. Petersburg, FL (Hybrid – onsite 3 days per week minimum).
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $68,000-$85,000 annually.
