VLIZ is hiring, for immediate employment, a project and data manager in the framework of Horizon Europe and other project involvements, focused on coordinating virtual research environments (Blue-Cloud2026, Aquarius). Within these projects, VMDC coordinates work on Virtual Labs and biological data management. The applicant will be part of the Geospatial data and products (GDP) team in the Data Centre.

Your Tasks:
- Coordinate input of European project partners as work package and task lead in European projects
- Promote the projects through international initiatives and meetings
- Support the data management of European projects towards open data publishing in established European marine data systems
- Project management, reporting and communication in English
- Participation in project meetings and follow-up on milestones and deliverables
Your Profile:
- A master’s degree (or PhD) in marine or related (biology, geography) sciences, applied sciences or similar
- Knowledge of data management
- Strong skills in coordination, organization, planning and managing of project tasks
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in team
- Willing to work in an international context
- An intrinsic drive for open and reproducible science
- Very good written and oral English communication skills
Following skills are considered an asset:
- Knowledge of the European marine data landscape and platforms
- Experience with virtual labs, reproducible science
- Experience with exploitation plans and user uptake of data products
- Knowledge of Python, R
- Data management expertise
- Training or teaching experience
