Ocean Career: Washington Maritime Blue Maritime Decarbonization Senior Program Manager

Position Description

The Maritime Decarbonization Senior Program Manager at Washington Maritime Blue will work with the Joint Innovation Program Director to maintain and advance the development and implementation of the SMF Collaborative and other work related maritime decarbonization activities. This role will be responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of the SMF Collaborative and related projects, including but not limited to supporting the SMF Collaborative Planning Committee and its facilitation, Washington Tax Credits for the Blue Economy accessibility support, and maritime decarbonization-related projects and partners. The Sr. Program Manager will support the Joint Innovation Program Director in strategic development, fundraising, communications, contracting, grant management, research, and reporting. The Sr. Program Manager may also supervise staff, permanent or temporary. To accomplish these duties, the Sr. Program Manager will work closely with Maritime Blue staff, project partners, and stakeholders in a collaborative process. This position will report to the Joint Innovation Program Director.

Duty Areas:

Program Administration

  • Project manage key studies, working groups, and forums through a collaborative and whole systems design approach
  • Facilitate partner/stakeholder relationships and meetings
  • Lead grant management and reporting for successful awards
  • Lead the hiring, day-to-day management, and annual/end-of-period review of part-time intern(s) or other JIP staff
  • Support the Joint Innovation Program Director in managing the SMF Collaborative Planning Committee, and when established, its Leadership Committee, subcommittees, and work groups
  • Support fundraising efforts for maritime decarbonization activities by assisting the Program Director in applying for grants, foundation outreach, and pursuing state/federal funding opportunities, or lead these applications in coordination with the Program Director
  • Support the Program Director in strategic planning and budget management for the overall program

External Relations

  • Conduct SMF Collaboration outreach through external presentations, development of communication materials, coordination & execution of outreach strategy, and responding to outside inquiries.
  • Identify, plan, and execute in-person, hybrid, and remote events including forums, workshops, and roundtables
  • Represent SMF Collaborative and JIP in external committees and work groups and at relevant non-Maritime Blue hosted events (conferences, workshops, networking events, etc.)
  • Support members and partnering organizations in relevant key studies, working groups, and forums

Maritime Blue Operations

  • Support Maritime Blue operations by attending internal meetings, participating in a staff committee, and attending member events.
  • Support Program Director on related Blue Economy conversations, market strategy, & events where sustainable maritime fuels, maritime decarbonization, or program structure are relevant.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and coalition-building skills with an ability to balance, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • The energy of fuels, maritime, ocean, public administration, and/or clean technology sectors
  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth

Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 + comprehensive benefits
