We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assist with DNA extractions and related molecular biology techniques used in environmental DNA analyses. The candidate will work with other lab personnel to process and analyze field-collected DNA and animal samples. Online application forms should be submitted with a cover letter and curriculum vitae.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBITIES:
- With supervision, assist with and carry out molecular protocols, including DNA extractions, DNA quantification, PCR, and gel electrophoresis
- Report and organize data collected
- Participate in fieldwork including potentially research cruises
- Desired skills include willingness to learn and be an active participant in an interdisciplinary team, attention to detail and careful work habits, excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and effective communication skills
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree. in Biology or a related field, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts may be requested as part of the interview process), as well as excellent academic and professional references. Prior experience with environmental DNA protocols preferred.
Salary range: $22.08 – $28.33 per hour
