Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assessment of coastal, oceanographic, and environmental processes
- Numerical model applications
- Ocean-scale wave, circulation, and storm surge
- Estuary & wetland hydrodynamics
- Waves, sediment transport and shoreline/beach profile change
- Contaminant transport and fate
- Water quality
- Storm water management
- Project/Task management
- Support field data collection and analyses
- Evaluation of shore protection structures, beach nourishment, habitat restoration and climate change adaptations
- Report writing
- Support proposal preparation, business development, and external marketing
- Work collaboratively with other teams & project partners to achieve project goals
- Assure proper archiving and documentation of program data
- Report status of projects to project managers and complete project assignments within budget and schedule constraints
- Participate in the planning of technical work involving modeling and data analysis
- Mentor junior staff in the modeling group
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Depends on experience potentially including supervising technical tasks at project level and mentoring staff.

- Master’s degree in Ocean/Coastal Sciences/Engineering/closely related field or equivalent experience is required.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of GIS tools to support engineering studies
- Experience in leading technical tasks and/or projects with preference to those involving modeling
- Demonstrated project work / capabilities in numerical modeling, data analysis with background in quantitative coastal processes.
- A high level of proficiency in computing, including numerical model source codes, HPC Linux environment, Python, Matlab, as well as business software including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel (without restriction) when required.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team in addition to working independently on key tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
