Lista Salmon, a subsidiary of EcoFishCircle, has now received the green light from Agder County Municipality to establish a land-based salmon farm of 6,000 tonnes at Lista fly and business park in Farsund municipality. Land-based aquaculture represents a significant opportunity for growth within Norwegian fish farming. Lista Laks will use an already existing industrial area to minimize environmental impact and promote a circular economy in collaboration with, among other things, protein production, biogas production and agriculture.

The project is strategically located in a region with unique natural conditions for green industry. This initiative is an example of how industrial synergies and innovative solutions can create valuable jobs and contribute to regional development.

Ecofishcircle AS (EFC) develops technology for land-based fish farming, consisting of modular farming tanks with a minimal environmental footprint, high fish welfare and good growth. Through its subsidiary Lista Laks, the company has now obtained a license for a facility at the Lista aviation and business park, which contributes to the utilization of existing commercial areas without affecting untouched nature.

The company’s general manager, Smiljana Divjak, states that she is very satisfied with this award. “We appreciate this declaration of confidence from the sector authorities and value their ability to assess our quality at all stages of the value chain. With the ongoing debate related to the farming industries in general and the opportunities that can lie in sustainable facilities on land, this project will be a good demonstration for the entire industry, politicians and the policy apparatus. The next step will be to find investors and partners who will join us in building a showcase for future food production.

“This is important both regionally and nationally. We need new, environmentally friendly ways of producing food. That is why we are developing the Lista Laks project. Please contact us if you have any questions or would like to visit our pilot plant.”
