Ocean Career: Marine Stewardship Council Senior Fisheries Standard Officer

Through our internationally recognized certification and ecolabeling program, well-managed sustainable fisheries are recognized and rewarded in the marketplace, through the leadership of our partners. Over 670 fisheries around the world, representing 19% of the annual global marine catch, are now engaged in the MSC program and MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 66 countries.

The Marine Stewardship Council is currently looking for a Senior Fisheries Standard Officer. This is an 18-month fixed term position.

This is a key administrative role in supporting the Fisheries Standard team, who develop and implement the MSC’s Fisheries Standard and Fisheries Certification Process.

The postholder will help to ensure the smooth running of the team’s operations, promote connectivity and collaboration, and support the team in the development of policy and process.

Some of the key tasks will be to:

  • Provide administrative support for the team’s day-to-day functions
  • Provide logistical support for external training and engagement activities
  • Support the team in its use of IT systems, including its transition to a new client relationship management (CRM) platform
  • Support the monitoring and review of Quality Management System (QMS) procedures relating to the team’s operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a team administration role
  • Well-developed IT skills
  • A degree in a subject related to fisheries or marine science ideally
  • An understanding of market-based certification schemes and knowledge of fisheries or marine conservation
