Ocean Career: Sea & Shoreline Biologist 1

Sea & Shoreline is seeking the help of a hard-working individual to assist their biology team in field work and day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist biologists with in-water restoration projects, generating reports, and day to day operations.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working on/ in the water and spending long days outside in all Florida weather conditions.
  • Candidates should be comfortable swimming in all types of water (previous experience is preferred).
  • Candidates with technical writing skills and the ability to generate basic scientific monitoring reports, and data analysis skills preferred.
  • Candidates should possess adequate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point skills.
  • Candidates should be able, or willing to learn, to operate boats and other small watercrafts.
  • Candidates may be asked to travel up to four nights/week (travel expenses are reimbursed).

A typical day working as a field biologist for Sea & Shoreline may range anywhere from sitting at a computer copying field data into Excel, to hours under or on the water, operating a 30-ft barge on a seagrass restoration project. Although Sea & Shoreline specializes in seagrass, they possess the equipment, skills, and expertise to take on any aquatic restoration/ mitigation project. Sea & Shoreline is currently working all throughout the state of Florida, from the panhandle to the Keys. Their methods are deeply rooted in scientific principles. Compensation: $42,000 - $52,000 annually
