Position Summary: CSA seeks a Project Scientist to be proficient in the analysis and preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Essential Fish Habitat (EFH) assessments, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), and other technical reports. Additional work may include participation in field surveys and preparation of proposals.
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of CSA projects including (but not limited to) project management, client interaction, field surveys, data analysis, report writing, and report reviews. Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills are required.
Applicants may be requested to submit a writing sample or example an environmental analysis examination.
Three references will be required.
Location: Stuart, Florida (preferred) or East Greenwich, Rhode Island
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Supporting or leading projects as a scientist and/or assistant project manager on multiple projects;
- Adhering to company standards and procedures for quality management and demonstrating the application of quality assurance and quality control procedures for data management and deliverables;
- Managing the quality, validity, and accuracy of a project’s science component;
- Developing and reviewing presentations, reports, and other deliverables;
- Engaging in positive internal team and client interactions;
- Assisting or leading proposal efforts;
- Adhering to all company standards and procedures, including, but not limited to:
- Compliance with company’s Drug and Alcohol Policy (including pre-employment, annual, random, and for-cause drug and alcohol screening).
- Adherence to corporate Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies, protocols, and training, and,
- Other Duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience:
- B.S. or higher degree in relevant life science discipline;
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team;
- EIA, ESIA, and/or EFH experience;
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
- Significant initiative, requiring little direction in identifying correct courses of action;
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple requests from various projects simultaneously;
- Strong working knowledge of computers and standard Microsoft software packages including word processing skills;
Beneficial Skills and Experience:
- Ability to travel and provide on-site or on-vessel support for field-based campaigns;
- Experience with statistical analysis;
- Experience with marine environmental surveys and sampling equipment;
- Ability to travel and provide on-site or on-vessel support for field-based campaigns;
- Foreign language skills.
