Ocean Career: Natural Power Senior Environmental Consultant

At Natural Power, we have been pioneers of positive renewable change for 25 years. If you’re looking for a job in the renewable energy industry, we could be just the place to advance your career.

As we continue to grow, we are now seeking to strengthen our Consenting and Environment team with a Senior Environmental Consultant specializing in marine ecology survey management and delivery at one of our UK or Irish office locations (e.g. Stirling, Glasgow, Newcastle, Dublin or Castlebar).

The main purpose of the role is to grow, manage, and deliver Natural Power’s offshore ecological survey capabilities. You will have practical experience of delivering marine ecological survey campaigns (e.g. benthic ecology and/or fish ecology surveys) and have experience managing vessel-based survey campaigns. Natural Power has a strong history of innovation—we will be looking for a candidate who can ensure that survey methods keep up to date with new techniques, including the use of eDNA methods. Experience of business development, producing consultancy style reports, and inputting into other project deliverables is desirable.

You will work alongside a team of environmental consultants as well other offshore specialists covering planning, ornithology, marine mammals, benthic habitats, and fisheries. We are a growing, forward thinking, collaborative, and open team, helping the UK transition to green energy and reduce carbon emissions. We encourage individuals to maximize their potential and enable individuals to contribute towards the success of the departments, which look to be at the forefront of the industry, adding value to renewables projects and making a difference.

Key activities / responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for the on-time, on-quality, on-budget delivery of surveys, coordinating resources to achieve milestones
  • Liaising with clients, stakeholders, statutory consultees, prescribed bodies, colleagues and sub-consultants throughout projects
  • Provide clients, colleagues, stakeholders and consultees with specialist technical advice on survey methods and objectives
  • Leading offshore ecology surveys
  • Prepare and review written technical reports
  • Maintain, develop and manage relationships with clients to grow the volume of survey work delivered
  • Manage both small and large-scale projects including contract, staff, subcontractor and budget management
