The University of North Carolina Shellfish Research Hatchery is seeking to fill the position of Research Technician.

The Research Technician will be responsible for:

  • The culture of shellfish, including the spawning, larval rearing, setting, and growing out of shellfish
  • Assisting in the cultivation of microalgae, including media prep, cell counts, and feeding 
  • Assisting the fieldwork team as needed
  • Collecting data and analyze it as needed to meet grant obligations

The Research Technician has an operational understanding of the hatchery systems such that the position can conduct routine monitoring (collect and record data) of water quality, flow rates, pump functions and maintain system functionality.
