Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement Watershed Resilience Program projects and initiatives.
- Participate in team coordination, communications, and strategic planning.
- Coordinate with Tribal co-stewards and internal and external partners, including state agencies, local governments, conservation districts, and nonprofits.
- Conduct scientific data collection and analysis, including in rough terrain in forested and aquatic habitats.
- Collect and analyze spatial data via GIS.
- Contract and grant scoping, writing, and management for local, state, and federal grants.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in fish and wildlife biology, wildlife management, natural resources, environmental science, forestry, fisheries, marine science, or closely related field AND two years of experience in environmental science, natural resource management, forestry, fisheries, wildlife science, marine science, environmental engineering, land use or environmental planning, or other relevant field;
- OR An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Experience with natural resource management and habitat restoration.
- Grant and contract management and budgetary experience.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple partners and funding sources.
- Experience leading and facilitating an interdisciplinary team or work groups to achieve desired and productive outcomes.
- Basic use of Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex or controversial information in a way that is understandable and non-confrontational.
- Ability to organize efficiently and develop or use systems for tracking implementation and accomplishments of several complex projects.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple tasks at different stages.
- Ability to seek and act on opportunities to improve, streamline, and re-invent work processes.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
- Work is performed indoors in an office or classroom environment as well as alone in sometimes isolated, unimproved areas, aquatic habitats, and forest land. Work will be approximately 70% office and 30% field-based. The ability to walk over steep, uneven terrain in a variety of aquatic and forest environments, year-round, in a variety of weather conditions is required.
- Occasional overnight travel in western Washington, and rarely statewide, is required to provide services. Travel will include conducting business with partners, attending or providing training, conducting site visits and presentations, and may be multiple days in length, with overnight stays. The ability to drive long distances in a variety of weather conditions, year-round, is required. Some nationwide travel for training, conferences, or other events may occur infrequently.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in fish and wildlife biology, wildlife management, natural resources, environmental science, forestry, fisheries, marine science, or closely related field AND two years of experience in environmental science, natural resource management, forestry, fisheries, wildlife science, marine science, environmental engineering, land use or environmental planning, or other relevant field;
- OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to interpret and apply, natural resource laws, policies, and programs. Understanding of how these affect or enable fish, wildlife, and habitat conservation in Washington State.
- Professional experience with river/watershed restoration or salmon recovery projects.
- Ability to apply negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of the Puget Sound Salmon Recovery plans, the Puget Sound Action Agenda, and Puget Sound recovery goals.
- Knowledge of western Washington watersheds, particularly the Snohomish, Puyallup, and Nisqually watersheds.
Salary: The high end of the salary range, Step M is typically a longevity step. $4,865.00 – $6,539.00 Monthly
