About the Role:

Are you passionate about Electrical Engineering? Do you want to contribute to critical ocean and climate research and make an impact on our environment? We are seeking a Service Engineer to join our collaborative team to help troubleshoot, repair, configure, and test industry-leading oceanographic sensors and equipment.

The Service Engineer will provide support and repair assistance to a team of technicians responsible for servicing customer equipment returned to the manufacturer for maintenance and calibration. This is equipment is used to make physical oceanographic, biogeochemical, and optical measurements in both deep ocean and freshwater environments. The instruments are used on large and small research vessels, on fixed installations and buoys, and are deployed on autonomous vehicles of various designs.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform advanced hardware service and repair on customer-owned equipment
  • Automate and improve service testing and repair processes to help increase service productivity
  • Data driven problem solving (coordination with Service Manager/R&D/Science)
  • Participate in product failure analysis and risk assessment activities

Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 2-3 years related experience in lean manufacturing or engineering environment preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and electronic test skills
  • Experience in electronics troubleshooting and design including schematic drawing, circuit simulation, printed circuit board layout and firmware coding.
  • Experience writing scripts that interact with serial devices (RS-232, RS-485, Logic Level, etc.)
  • Experience testing and debugging microcontrollers (such as ARM, MSP430, etc.)
  • Experience writing Python (general and imbedded)
  • Database interaction experience including SQL, preferred

The salary range for this role is $60,000.00 - $80,000.00. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Washington. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
