“Donald joins at a time when customers continue to navigate evolving operational, technical, and commercial demands. His background gives him firsthand insight into the priorities and considerations many organizations encounter, and that perspective will help us continue supporting the UK and Ireland markets,” said MacArtney CEO Niels Peter Christiansen.

Combining engineering expertise with cross-industry experience and more than 12 years in leadership teams, Donald Macleod joins MacArtney as Managing Director of MacArtney UK and Regional Director for the UK & Ireland, heading the company’s largest operation outside Denmark.

His career has progressed from technical and operational roles to executive responsibility within marine, offshore and energy businesses. Most recently, he held senior positions within Boskalis, following his tenure as Managing Director of Highland Fuels.

For Donald, the move to MacArtney was about more than leading the UK organization. The company’s culture, heritage and reputation were among the factors that resonated strongly with him: “MacArtney is a well-established international business with a reputation for quality. The company has a strong heritage and maintains values put in place by the founders, which very much align with my own, where entrepreneurship, quality and people are brought into focus.”

Throughout his career, Donald has worked in roles that rely on strong supplier-customer collaboration, giving him a practical understanding of what helps organizations work effectively together. He believes the key to good relationships between the supply chain and the customer lies in open communication, responsiveness, and product quality.

Those qualities remain relevant as industries and requirements continue to evolve. Subsea operations are becoming increasingly automated and data-driven, and new possibilities continue to emerge. The ability to acquire, transmit, and act on underwater data is playing an ever more important role, reinforcing the need for technologies, expertise, and support services tailored to specific applications, an area in which MacArtney continues to support customers through its integrated approach.

Looking ahead, Donald sees opportunities to further solidify MacArtney’s position as a reliable, high-quality service provider to the energy sector, while exploring growth in areas such as defense and ocean science.

MacArtney’s UK operation employs 55 people and includes cable assembly and molding workshops, a warehouse and a hydrostatic pressure test facility capable of simulating depths of up to 6,000 meters.

Building on the strengths already established within the UK organization, Donald looks forward to working closely with colleagues across the wider MacArtney group, sharing knowledge and best practices while contributing to the next phase of development.
