Saipem and Jan De Nul have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada, on behalf of the Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A (MRV) representing the Area 4 partners (ENH, CNPC, ENI, KOGAS and XRG) for the Rovuma LNG Phase 1 engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract.

The project aims at developing upstream facilities to deliver offshore gas to the onshore Rovuma LNG liquefaction plant in Palma via subsea pipelines and manifolds. The Letter of Intent includes preliminary engineering, procurement and technical services to advance the project definition and planning. The final award of the project is subject to the final investment decision and government and regulatory approvals, expected within 2026.

Saipem and Jan De Nul have extensive experience in offshore infrastructure, such as the installation and protection of pipelines and cable systems in all subsea environments. Jan De Nul has previously performed several marine construction works in Mozambique and will further build on this experience for the successful delivery of the Rovuma LNG project.
