OCEANS 2025 Great Lakes Heads to Chicago for a Landmark Marine and Freshwater Technology Conference

The global ocean and freshwater community will converge in Chicago this fall for OCEANS 2025 Great Lakes, taking place September 29 to October 2, 2025, at the iconic Navy Pier. Hosted in one of North America’s most strategically important freshwater regions, OCEANS 2025 Great Lakes will bring together experts, innovators, policymakers, and students to explore the latest advancements in marine and freshwater technology, research, and sustainable practices.

Organized by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), the OCEANS Conference series is recognized worldwide as a premier platform for advancing ocean and freshwater science, engineering, and policy.

The event will feature:

  • A high-energy exhibit hall
  • Cutting-edge technical sessions
  • Plenary presentations from leading voices in the field
  • On-water demonstrations
  • Interactive panels, workshops, and networking opportunities


Key initiatives include AquaHacking, the Smart Ships Coalition, and Lakebed 2030, focusing on lakebed mapping and next-generation marine technologies.
