Exclusive Site Visits – 17 June
The event opens on June 17 with two exclusive site visits. Participants can choose to visit either Hortimare in Heerhugowaard or the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) in Yerseke. The site visits have limited capacity, and spots are filling quickly, so early registration is encouraged. More information about the site visits can be found here: www.seagriculture.eu/site-visits-2025/
- At Hortimare you will have the chance to see their culture collection, cultivation systems, learn about how they approach breeding, support farming operations, and several other aspects.
- NIOZ, the Department of Estuarine and Delta Systems invites you to their facilities in Yerseke for a scientific meeting and a tour to experience their seaweed research facilities. This meeting will be co-organized by the NWO-KIC Aquatic Food production projects CircAqua, SeaSeeds, and From Sea to Society.
Conference Program, Trade Show, and Poster Presentations – June 18–19
The main conference program runs from June 18 to 19 and promises a dynamic and international lineup. Across five plenary sessions, two panel discussions, and a series of Seaweed Elevator Pitches, the program will explore key themes and innovations from across the seaweed landscape. Additionally, researchers will present posters, creating space for academic dialogue and exchange throughout the event.
Among the confirmed speakers are some of the most respected voices in the industry: Alan T. Critchley, Research Fellow at the Verschuren Centre; Dr. Stefan Kraan, CSO of Oceana Organic Products; Rita Sousa, Partner at Faber; Pierre Paslier, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Notpla, Juliet Brodie, Merit Researcher at the Natural History Museum, and many more will all share their insights. They will be joined by representatives from leading organizations, including TotalEnergies Corbion, Rabobank, Necton, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). You can view the full conference program on the website: www.seagriculture.eu/conference-program-2025/
Complementing the conference sessions, the trade show will provide a platform for seaweed-focused businesses to showcase their products and services while also fostering new partnerships. Networking opportunities, including a conference dinner, will further encourage connection and collaboration among attendees.
