The SeaBat T51-P pairs the T51 sonar with Teledyne RESON’s portable sonar processor (PSP), which is IP-rated and splash-proof. This makes the system suitable for surveys from small boats and dinghies without enclosed cabins, where equipment may be exposed to water. The processor can accept 24 V DC power, allowing it to be connected to a battery and supporting use in a wider range of survey environments.
At the heart of the system is the SeaBat T51’s industry-leading 800 kHz performance, which delivers full-swath coverage of up to 170 degrees. Designed to provide high-quality, detailed survey data, the T51 is well-respected for helping users identify seabed features clearly while reducing the time spent processing and cleaning unreliable data after a survey.
The T51-P also retains the features from the established SeaBat product range, including automated sonar controls, adaptive gates, and vertical detection mode. The SeaBat tracker system automatically adjusts the sonar settings to help users collect the required data with less manual intervention. Adaptive gates follow changes in the seabed, helping to capture features such as sand waves, depressions, and seabed obstacles, while vertical detection mode supports the identification of vertical structures, including quay walls, making it particularly useful in harbor surveys.
“The SeaBat T51 has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality data across a wide swath,” said Pim Kuus, Senior Hydrographer and Product Manager of Instruments and Imaging at Teledyne Marine. “With the T51-P, we are bringing that proven performance to a portable, splash-proof configuration, giving surveyors greater flexibility when working in open-boat environments. The combination of detailed data, wide coverage, and automated controls also helps reduce the manual effort involved in collecting and processing survey data.”
Martyn Grange, Vice President Asia Pacific at Teledyne Marine, added: “Across Asia in particular, there is a broad need for flexible hydrographic survey solutions that can be deployed from smaller vessels and in challenging coastal environments. Open-boat surveying is an established part of the market, particularly where access, vessel size, and operational flexibility are important considerations. The T51-P is well positioned to meet these requirements, giving survey companies a practical option for expanding their survey capabilities across a wide range of applications.”
