AIMS has achieved the internationally recognized CoreTrustSeal certification as a trusted data repository.

CoreTrustSeal is a community-based, non-governmental, and non-profit organization promoting sustainable and trustworthy data infrastructure.

Data Science and Research Services Director Dr. Kameron Christopher said AIMS’ data repository was pivotal in collecting, storing, and making data available for research, both within AIMS and externally, over the long term.

“Through a rigorous peer review process, AIMS joins an international community promoting ‘FAIR’ data principles (findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability) in trustworthy digital repositories with sustainable governance, reliable infrastructure, and policies supporting community-agreed practices,” he said.

“AIMS’ application was supported by Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and the ARDC Trusted Data Repository community.

“As guardians of Australia’s tropical marine research data, AIMS achieving CoreTrustSeal certification strengthened research proposals and partnerships that harnessed AIMS data.”
